The judge of Barcelona's court of instruction number 7 investigating the police attacks during the 1st October Catalan independence referendum has charged the first two anti-riot officers from Spain's National Police Corps, according to an order El Nacional has seen.

The charges are related to the attacks reported by three victims who were injured at the city's Mediterrània school. The judge is investigating the crimes of injury and against moral integrity.

The judge describes events as related by the three victims who presented the complaint. The judge believes that there was an abuse of superiority and that they used dangerous items like batons.

He also calls as a witness Diego Pérez de los Cobos, who was the coordinator of the police operation during the referendum.

The Barcelona court is investigating more than 200 reports of injuries resulting from the 1st October attacks. Some weeks ago it started the procedure to identify the agents in question. The judge now has a report with the list of agents, their ID numbers and the anti-riot officers' shoulder numbers with which they can start identifying individuals, key for moving forwards with the charges.
