A judge of Spain's Supreme Court, Pablo Llarena, has given summonses for the eight imprisoned Catalan ministers and the leaders of pro-independence organisations ANC (Catalan National Assembly) and Òmnium Cultural, Jordi Sànchez and Jordi Cuixart. They are to appear in court this Friday, 1st December at 9:30am.

Legal sources had said in recent hours that the judge's plan is to have taken a decision before the start of the election campaign for the 21st December Catalan vote. The campaign officially starts on Monday night next week, officially at 12:00am on Tuesday 5th.

The members of the Catalan government and the 'Jordis' have asked the Supreme Court to review the cautionary measures dictated by a judge of the National Audience court now that their case has transferred from the latter to the former. The National Audience had declared preventive detention without bail for all of them, whilst the Supreme Court decided to offer bail to the speaker of the Catalan Parliament, Carme Forcadell, and the members of the Parliament's Board it saw initially.

Llarena's decision

Llarena, on Friday, took over the cases against the Catalan government and the Jordis which, until now, had been investigated by the National Audience. The cases against the former head of the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police), Josep Lluís Trapero, and superintendent Teresa Laplana will remain at the National Audience. The Supreme Court was already responsible for the case open against Forcadell and the deputies of the Parliament's Board, who it summonsed to a hearing on 9th November.
