This weekend the Barcelona district of Les Corts has been holding its festa major and residents had a visitor who was not made welcome. Inés Arrimadas, leading figure in the right-wing Ciudadanos (Cs) party, ascended to the balcony of the local municipal chambers to witness the events of the district's annual festival, and she was received with heavy booing and whistling.

"Isn't Inés Arrimadas politicizing our neighbourhood festivals? Come on. This is how we greet her" - Xènia

"A warm reception to Inés Arrimadas from the residents of the Les Corts district of Barcelona, area where she resides, with massive jeering and the deafening cry of "freedom for the political prisoners" during the human towers competition. @InesArrimadas, be strong." - Juan Miguel Garrid

Minutes before the start of the traditional human towers competition, contest participants and members of the public chanted "out, out" and "freedom political prisoners" to the unionist leader. Arrimadas was accompanied by Francisco Sierra López, president of the Les Corts district, also a Cs member.

In statements to the press, Arrimadas sought to sow some controversy ahead of Monday's Catalan Parliament debate on the motion of no confidence in Quim Torra's government, a vote called by Cs. "The motion has been presented now because previously we never had Goma 2 [explosive] in the political debate. There were no alleged terrorists arrested," she said, in a reference to the controversial arrests of nine pro-independence activists on September 23rd, accused of terrorism.
