A few months ago, a Spanish group started an initiative on the website Change.org to collect signatures requesting the Spanish state to expel Catalonia from the country, but it had to abandon the petition because it received only six signatures in favour.

Independent Legislative Initiative to expel Catalonia from Spain
Do you believe, as we do, that Catalans are not Spaniards? We want to expel Catalonia from Spain, we are fighting for Spain to be...

But after the disaster the first time around, on Tuesday another campaign was set in motion with the same goal: granting independence to Catalonia. The difference between the two versions is the body they are addressed to: the first was directed at the Spanish congress and the new proposal is aimed directly at the Spanish prime minister, Pedro Sánchez.

As well, it seems that the new petition has been opened by a different group, the Platform for the Expulsion of Catalonia from Spain (link in Spanish), which, according to its Twitter profile, wants  a Spain that is "one, great and free from pro-independence Catalans".

Another difference is the support received by the two campaigns: the first received six signatures in total, and the second, for the moment 2,117 people in favour in just 22 hours. The big question about this second request, though, is whether it will reach Pedro Sánchez's hands.

The official PECE has initiated this campaign addressed to the Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez.
During the last few years, the government of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia has tried to generate a climate of tension against the rest of the Spanish state. Without going into detail, on October 1st 2017, a coup d'etât was perpetrated against the rest of Spain.
