Those journeying along major Catalan highways have been seeing stars this weekend as pro-independence civil group the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) has carried out a campaign entitled 'Bridges for the Republic', in which it has decorated motorway overbridges across Catalonia with pro-independence estelada flags and banners. With the slogan "You are the strength of the Republic", the ANC has been warming up for the major protest in 11 days time - the Diada, or Catalan National Day, on September 11th - and the group wants to show it's ready to mobilize supporters massively once again.
In fact, the trend in registrations for the 11th September rally has gathered pace, and now exceeds 75,000 registrations, after it was reported last week that sign-ups were 25% slower than last year.
Many of the ANC branches that took part in this weekend's bridge protests published photos and videos of their actions on social media:
