Agents of Spain's Civil Guard have surrounded the polling station in Sant Julià de Ramis (Girona), where the president of the Catalan government, Carles Puigdemont, is scheduled to vote. They have also evicted some of the assistants and charged with riot shields and batons. The president, however, has not yet arrived at the polling station.

At around nine o'clock in the morning, dozens of Civil Guard agents stormed the pavilion of Sant Julià de Ramis. Outside, hundreds of people were waiting to vote and even in the last hours a tractor has been parked at the entrance of the building.

There have been scenes of maximum tension, with pushing and shouting from the citizens and the media present, after the people who were waiting outside to vote resisted eviction.
