La Jonquera is a symbolic location, the site of the main road crossing through the Pyrenees between Catalonia and France, specifically Northern Catalonia, territory ceded by Spain in a 1659 treaty. Today, Catalan protest platform Tsunami Democràtic revealed their "most ambitious action yet": a plan to block the motorway at the border for three days, in protest at the Spanish Supreme Court's sentences in the case against pro-independence leaders.
