Spain's Supreme Court has again refused to release Jordi Cuixart. A chamber of the court has rejected a new appeal from defence counsel for the president of Òmnium Cultural asking for release on bail.

The decision was communicated to his lawyers on 20th September. In an individual judgement, the court states, without providing its reasoning, that there has been no change in the circumstances to justify overturning his pretrial detention. As such, he is to remain in custody. It's the second time the chamber has rejected such a petition from Cuixart.

Cuixart entered prison on 16th October last year, almost twelve months ago, accused of sedition for a protest outside the Catalan economy ministry whilst Civil Guard searched inside for material relating to the then upcoming independence referendum. He was sent to jail alongside Jordi Sànchez, president of the Catalan National Assembly, by order of National Audience court judge Carmen Lamela.

The case was later transferred to the Supreme Court where Pablo Llarena has rejected each and every appeal they have presented to be given bail. He has sent them to trial for rebellion, along with a good part of Carles Puigdemont's cabinet.
