An appointment for a phone call. That's what the offices of acting Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez and Catalan president Quim Torra have agreed on today. They will talk next Tuesday at 8am.

The Catalan president's office said they had been called by the Moncloa government palace in Madrid to decide on a time for the call for next Tuesday.

After both ERC and JxCat called for dialogue for a political solution to the conflict between Catalonia and Spain to restart as a condition of talks to reinvest Sánchez as prime minister, the candidate announced on Wednesday evening that next week he will call the presidents of all of Spain's autonomous communities.

The Catalan president, however, replied that "nothing is solved with a call from Sánchez in the middle of a series of 17 presidents." He called for institutional respect and bilateral dialogue, as well as an end to the repression and a political proposal for self-determination.
