Ryanair has confirmed this Wednesday that it has cancelled 12% of the flights it had scheduled for 25th and 26th July this year due to a strike called by cabin crew in Spain, Belgium and Portugal. It has emailed or texted almost 50,000 customers travelling to or from Spain to give them seven-days notice that their flights have been cancelled.

The company has offered all those affected the option of swapping to an alternative flight within seven days of the strike. Alternatively, they can also opt for a full refund of their tickets. According to the airline, the strike could affect up to 200 flights a day of those Ryanair operates in Spain (24%), 50 of those in Portugal (27%), 50 of those in Belgium (31%) for 300 in total around Europe (12%).

Ryanair has brought in extra staff to its customer service department to manage the refunds and flight swaps of affected passengers over the next seven days.

Any Ryanair customer planning to travel to or from Belgium, Portugal or Spain next Wednesday or Thursday, who hasn't already received an email or text about a cancellation, can be confident their flight is going ahead and should check-in and plan to travel as normal.
