Catalan president Carles Puigdemont is still in Brussels this evening, El Nacional has learnt. This afternoon, ministers Joaquim Forn (Interior), Lluís Puig (Culture) and Dolors Bassa (Work) have returned from the Belgian capital, where they appeared along the president in his press conference at the city's International Press Club.

The ministers have come back to Catalonia shortly after the judge of the National Audience court, Carmen Lamela, summoned all the ministers of the Catalan government to declare on Thursday and Friday this week on charges of sedition, rebellion and misuse of public funds.

The president left his hotel this evening and got into a taxi whose driver said that they were going to the airport. This led to some media outlets reporting that the president was returning to Barcelona.

During this lunchtime's press conference, Puigdemont said that he had no plans to request asylum in Brussels and that he would return to Catalonia when he had a guarantee of a fair trial.

Sources close to members of the government who have remained in Barcelona say they plan to respond to the judge's summons and appear in court as ordered.
