A majority of votes for PP and Ciutadans in Catalonia believe that Francoism was positive or had positive effects on Catalan history. Specifically, 51.7% of Cs voters and 48.7% of PP's believe it had positive and negative effects whilst 6.4% of Cs voters and 23.5% of PP's think it was positive. As such, only 38.1% of Ciutadans' voters and 23.6% of those who support PP believe that Francoism was negative for the history of Catalonia.

These results contrast strongly with voters for other parties. Their answers mean that, overall, 22.5% believe Francoism had positive and negatives aspects, whilst 3% believe it was positive.

Indeed, apart from PP and Cs, supporters of other parties in the large majority believe the "period of Francoism" was negative for the history of Catalonia. That's the view of 79.3% of JxCat voters, 87.3% of ERC voters, 66.6% of those who support PSC, 73.7% of En Comú-Podemn voters and 94.4% of those who support CUP.

The director of the Centre for Opinion Studies, who ran the research, Jordi Argelaguet, defended the inclusion of the question in their third survey of the year given the resurgence of debate in Spain about the dictator's legacy and ideology. He noted that a poll of the whole of Spain by Metroscopia asked the same question in September. That time, 44% of respondents said they believed Francoism had positive and negative effects for Spanish history and 8% directly said it was positive.
