The JuntsxCat parliamentary group has registered a proposal to modify the Parliament's legislation to invest their candidate, Carles Puigdemont, as president without him being present in the chamber in person, party sources have confirmed to El Nacional. JuntsxCat entered the proposal alone, having not reached an agreement with ERC.

The bill to modify Law 13/2008 of the Presidency of the Catalan government requests it be accepted into consideration, be processed in a single reading and be categorised as urgent. JuntsxCat also ask for the calling of a plenary session to vote on the proposal.

ERC doesn't sign up

ERC hasn't joined JuntsxCat's proposal this Friday, and will only support a "comprehensive agreement for the legislature" based on two principles: recognising the ministers dismissed by the Spanish government in Brussels and agreeing on an operational and effective investiture in Catalonia. Parties sources explained their position after JuntsxCat registered their bill alone in the Parliament.

JuntsxCat has made its proposal two days after ERC warned such a measure would be unlikely to work, believing that it would be immediately challenged to the Constitutional Court, opening a new conflict with the Spanish state.
