Supreme Court judge Pablo Llarena reportedly plans to bring formal charges for the most serious crimes under investigation, rebellion and sedition, against those he considers to have been leaders of the Catalan independence process. The supposed plan was revealed by Catalan public broadcaster TV3 citing court sources.

Those to face these charges would be Oriol Junqueras, Jordi Sànchez and the six deputies the judge has summonsed to court this Friday: Jordi Turull, Josep Rull, Marta Rovira, Carme Forcadell, Raül Romeva and Dolors Bassa.

The judge announced today that he is closing the case's instruction phase and will start the procedure to move to trial. As part of this, on Friday, he will review the cautionary measures in place, which could send the summonsed deputies to prison until the trial starts.
