Some fifty international figures will come to Catalonia around its Diada (National Day) on 11th September this year. The association Foreign Friends of Catalonia has invited researchers, professionals, activists and politicians from around the world to events designed to discuss and explain the situation in Catalonia.

According to a statement, they have organised workshops, a debate and a dinner for the 10th with the aim of finding "implementable solutions for Catalonia". Among those to attend are Turkish activist Can Dündar, Alessandro Gamberini, the lawyer for Sea-Watch's Carola Rackete, German Bundestag delegate Andrej Hunko and former MEP Mark Demesmaeker. On the 11th itself, they will be received by president Quim Torra at the government palace in the morning, before attending the mass rally in the afternoon (section 14).

The organisation says it wants to "raise the international profile of the Catalan case", for which purpose it has brought together "figures who support the Catalan cause who, through the diplomacy of proximity, help make it understood by the world". Also to participate in some of the events are Catalan ministers Àngels Chacón (business and skills) and Alfred Bosch (foreign affairs), whilst family members of the imprisoned and exiled Catalan pro-independence leaders will be in the audience for the debate on Wednesday evening.
