The death toll from coronavirus in Catalonia has risen to 122, according to the data provided this Friday evening by the Catalan health ministry. In the last 24 hours, another 40 victims have been added to this balance, which stood at 82 deaths on Thursday.

As for the number of confirmed cases, 933 new positives have been confirmed, putting the total number of infected at 4,203. Of the Catalonia total, 312 are in serious condition and 600 are healthcare professionals. The total who have been given the all-clear is 150. 

These latest Catalan figures - with a 29% increase in cases in 24 hours - show that, for the moment, the curve is scarcely flattening, as the graphs show. 

In the case of the Igualada outbreak, one of the most severe focuses of the virus in Catalonia, the total number of people infected with the virus is 209. There have been 24 deaths and six of the patients are in serious condition. Ninety-one are healthcare professionals.

Spain, a thousand fatalities

Meanwhile, the total confirmed number of deaths in the Spanish state surpassed the grim figure of one thousand on Friday, while there are close to 20,000 cases confirmed. This total (broken down in the chart below) was calculated prior to the release of the latest Catalan figures.
