Starting at midnight this Friday night, the Catalan government has decreed the closure of all bars and restaurants in Catalonia, except for those that are integrated into a hotel establishment or a health centre. Also to be shut down for at least the next fortnight are shopping centres, with the exception of those stores exclusively dedicated to the sale of everyday consumer goods - food, cleaning products and hygiene goods. This is declared in the resolution published tonight in the Catalan government gazette, containing the details of the measures announced on Friday morning by the Catalan interior minister, Miquel Buch.

The resolution also decrees the closure of theatres, cinemas, nightclubs, discotheques, pubs, dance halls, concert halls, and any other recreational establishment, as well as gambling establishments and amusement parks, theme parks and any another centre devoted to entertainment or leisure activities. All types of shows and performances are also suspended, whether in indoor or outdoor spaces.

All sports facilities and sports clubs, gymnasiums, and ski stations are also to be closed. Hunting activities are prohibited in most parts of Catalonia.

Shopping centres, including department stores and shopping arcades, are closed except for those stores exclusively dedicated to the sale of food, cleaning and hygiene products, and those areas of shopping centres and malls dedicated to such activities.

Wakes or vigils in public and private facilities for those who have died after being infected by the Covid-19 virus are also prohibited.

All of these measures will apply for the next 15 days, and may be extended.

As well, the resolution provides for the possibility of adapting the public transport network to the current situation, including invalidating the normal public transport passes and regulating access to these transport systems if necessary to ensure that they continue to run but with occupancy that does not exceed one third of their normal full capacity.
