"Orden y seguridad", order and security, that's the slogan for a new campaign launched by Ciudadanos, a centre-right, unionist Spanish party.

Ciudadanos presented their new campaign on their official Twitter profile, saying: "It's time for there to be order in the streets and for citizens to feel safe. Enough with the negligence!"

Many have commented on social media of the historical connotations of the slogan chosen. Lawyer Gonzalo Boye, who represents Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, for example wrote, using the German translation of the phrase: "'Ordnung und Sicherheit'... an Austrian already offered this to the Germans 85 years ago".

Carles Puigdemont himself, wrote:

Translation: All the masks are falling off. Cs' motto "Order and security" is copied from that of the far-right party which governs Austria. And it contradicts what the people of Cs themselves do in Catalonia's streets and balconies.

Other users also joined in with the criticism:

"Order and security". Ciudadanos don't even bother to hide it now.

Now I don't know what this rhetoric reminds me of...

As a slogan for a dictatorship it sounds phenomenal. Who have you designed it for? Hitler, Mussolini, Franco?

It's time that you give up the irresponsible politics of lies. YES there is order and security in Spain. // Your lies try to instil fear and hatred in society, that "Strategy" isn't new, a "gentleman" used it some years ago already in Germany.
