The temple of the Sagrada Família has this Wednesday completed the tower of the evangelist Matthew, with the placement of the sculptural piece of the massive human figure that tops it off. And if all goes according to plan, 24 hours later, the last remaining evangelist tower, that of John, will be completed with the placement of its crowning figure: an eagle. Thus the world-renowned Barcelona cathedral, the best-known and still-incomplete work of modernista architect Antoni Gaudí, will have completed the full tetramorph of towers symbolising each of the four Christian Evangelists - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John - and an inauguration and blessing will take place on Sunday, November 12th. However, until the scaffolding is removed in the coming weeks, the crowns of the towers will not be clearly visible from the street.

The blessing, November 12th

As announced in the press conference to present the new milestones, a mass to bless the new work will be held on November 12th, to mark the day on which illumination of the four towers will begin- The four towers will be lit until Christmas. In addition, throughout the month of November, a programme of cultural events is planned to publicly celebrate the completion of the Evangelist towers.
