The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has sent congratulatory greetings in the Catalan language to the small European country of Andorra on the day of its patron saint, Our Lady of Meritxell.
"On behalf of the people and the government of the United States of America, I send my best wishes to the people of Andorra while they celebrate the Day of Our Lady of Meritxell," he said.
The US consulate in Barcelona made the Catalan-language message public, accompanied by a photo showing the US and Andorran flags.

The small European country of Andorra, located in the Pyrenees mountains between the states of France and Spain, has Catalan as its official language.
