The editor of one of Spain's leading conservative newspapers has suggested that solving the Catalan issue is easy. Spanish journalist Francisco Marhuenda, editor of La Razón, told television chat show La Sexta Noche on Saturday night, that "we only have to give in and hold an agreed referendum".

"Resolving the conflict is very easy. If you leave it to me, I'll sort it out in a week. We just have to give in and that's it. We hold an agreed referendum and put more money into Catalonia, that's what the Catalans love. Since the times of Felipe V, [the Catalans] have been sucking on the teat of the Spanish cow and [they've] got rich," he said.

Translation of tweet:
"It's very easy to resolve the conflict. You just have to give in and hold the agreed referendum." Marhuenda. It's because of this archaic mentality that there will never be an agreed referendum, because for them, allowing a vote is already equivalent to surrender and defeat, despite having all the tools to win it well.  — Kasper Juul
