Catalonia's largest pro-independence group has asked for the lifting of the suspension on Tuesday's Declaration of Independence, and for the post-independence transitional law to be brought into force. The secretariat of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC, in its Catalan acronym) made this call on Thursday after meeting in a special session.

The communiqué published by the ANC reads as follows:

"The secretariat of the Catalan National Assembly in a special meeting held today, October 12th, has agreed on making public its position on the current political situation.

In view of the Spanish state's negative response to any proposal for dialogue, there is no longer any sense in maintaining the suspension of the Declaration of Independence. Because of this we urge the Catalan parliament to lift the suspension, and the President and government to implement the law for legal transition and foundation of the Catalan republic".
