Andrew Rosindell, Conservative party MP for Romford, has given his support to the Catalan referendum. This came this Tuesday in a statement to HispanTv, a Spanish-language Iranian broadcaster, after a meeting of the British Parliament's All-Party Parliamentary Group on Catalonia, which he is a member of.
"You can't stifle freedom. People have the freedom to decide on their destiny," said Rosindell. He also compares the Catalan issue with Scotland and says that "Scotland had a referendum and decided to stay in the UK, Catalonia should really have the same right of self-determination".
