The Catalan vice-president, Oriol Junqueras, has sent a letter from prison to the editor of El Nacional, José Antich, in which he reflects on life and on politics, and what his commitment to society means based on the values of Christianity. "They won't be able to imprison our love", he says in the message in reference to his children and the whole of Catalonia. The text, entitled "A love letter", is the following:

"This very profound, unconditional faith in the liberty and responsibility (always inseparable) of human beings and, consequently, in the sovereignty that resides with the people, can only be based (in the Christian tradition) on the certainty of God's infinite love and (in the most humanistic version of anarchism, republicanism, liberalism or socialism) on the love for human beings and their liberty, on love for life in its diversity and its richness.

Perhaps all in all (and because the series of the generations is that which best allows us to understand the idea of eternity), the most intense and unconditional love of our lives is the love for our children. And it's for them and for what they represent that we proudly taken on the greatest commitments. Because, from this perspective, love, dignity and liberty and synonyms of Life.

And, at least in this sense, we're invincible, because, even if they imprison some of us, they won't be able to imprison our Love. And, precisely for that, I love you so much!"
