The Catalan Government Spokesman and Minister of the Presidency, Jordi Turull, says that the government feels "embarrassed by others" with regards to the bad management by the Spanish state of the crisis at Barcelona's El Prat airport, following the strike by security workers of the security company, Eulen, and which has caused long queues and many passengers to miss their flights. The minister has announced that the government will be contacting consulates and embassies to explain "how this has happened" and "apologise for the inconveniences that have occurred".

"The Catalan government has tried to act as a mediator since the first minute of this conflict," he said on Sunday in front of the media, prior to a visit to the Parc del Fòrum on the occasion of the celebration of the National Festival of Ecuador. Turull denounced the Spanish state for being "absent" in the labour dispute until the situation "had become untenable".

Asked about the request from the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, that the City Council should also participate in a monitoring committee to address the problems of the strike, the government spokesman also said that "now is not the time to gesticulate" but to "solve the problems".
