The president of Catalonia, Quim Torra, has called for civil disobedience "when necessary". He explained that what's needed "in the times to come" is to defend liberty "no matter the cost" and that "no fight is too small" when it comes to defending this liberty.
"Today I want to encourage you to live to demand liberty in the way we know, radically democratic, republicanism, civil, social and political rights, non-violence and, when necessary civil disobedience," he said. Torra was speaking at the inauguration of the exhibition "Joan Jordà, llavors" in Santa Coloma de Farners, a retrospective on the work of the artist who went into exile in France in February 1939.
Torra praised Jordà, highlighting the decision "to disobey" and go into exile, and told the audience it's necessary to be "very Jordà" when it comes to defending freedoms. He then viewed the exhibition alongside the mayor of Santa Colomna de Farners, Susagna Riera (JxCat), and some thirty invited guests, including a large portion of the artist's family.
