Yesterday, a group of Valencians were victims of an attack in Malaga city centre, when several people threw bricks at them against the tourist apartment where they were staying, all for having hung a flag of the Valencian Countries on the balcony.

However, the attack had a clear component of Spanish nationalism hatred, since according to Málaga Hoy, the reason for the attack was allegedly the mistaking of the Valencian flag -with the blue stripe crowned top- with the Catalan four-barred flag.

Málaga Hoy quoting local neighbours sources, stated that the aggressors started by directing verbal abuse towards the balcony exhibiting the Valencian flag to the cry of "Long live Spain, you bastard" before taking bricks from a nearby construction site and throwing them at the tourist apartment.

The Valencian group allegedly responded throwing the bricks back. Notwithstanding the rawness of the urban battle, no injuries have been reported.
