Spanish Interior Minister, Juan Ignacio Zoido, has used images of a father with his son on his shoulders that Spanish National Police agents are trying to remove from a school to emphasise the security forces' "professionalism and proportionality" in the face of growing criticism of their actions.
Proporcionalidad y profesionalidad. Así actúan la @guardiacivil y la @policia, como este agente dialogando con un padre. #EstamosporTI pic.twitter.com/TX54CDjfJy

Translation: Proportionality and professionalism. That's how the Guardia Civil and National Police are acting, like this agent talking with a father.
The minister justified the actions as fulfilling the judicial mandate against the "illegal" referendum.

The National Police are removing ballots boxes to comply with the judicial mandate and the law in the face of the illegal referendum.
Zoido puts special focus on the actions of the National Police and the Civil Guard after some have accused the Mossos (Catalan police) of passivity given the order from judge Mercedes Armas.
La @policia y la @guardiacivil ya están actuando para cumplir la orden judicial. Éstas son las primeras urnas incautadas. #EstamosporTI pic.twitter.com/6aMpTCYO6M

The National Police are already acting to fulfil the judicial order. These are the first ballot boxes confiscated.
