Acting Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez will next Tuesday publicly announce his latest draft government programme in an attempt to restart negotiations to invest him as prime minister again.

The document, which includes 300 measures, "accepts and makes our own" the majority of the proposals suggested by Unidas Podemos in its offer of 20th August, PSOE sources say. They add that this new proposal is open to debate with the other parties.

After his last attempt to gain the necessary votes to become prime minister in July failed at the last minute, little progress seems to have been made by PSOE in its talks with other political parties. If no candidate has won the support of the Congress by 23rd September, Spain will go to an automatic rerun of the general election, as happened following the 2015 vote. This would come on 10th November.
