Catalan exports have broken a new record between January and April, reaching 24.194 billion euros (£21 billion, $28 billion), up 4.5% on the same period last year, according to the industry, trade and tourism ministry. This is the best result recorded ever for the period.

Catalan sales abroad made up 25.5% of the whole Spanish state's during the first four months of the year. During April itself, exports also recorded an all-time maximum, 5.9578 billion euros, 8.1% more than the same month last year.

The chemical and automobile sectors are those that have contributed the most to this increase in exports.
