The National Assembly of Quebec has unanimously passed a motion expressing support for dialogue in Catalonia and its concern over the Supreme Court's sentences against pro-independence leaders.

The new text from Québec solidaire is a softened version of one presented by the party last week, looking to win the support of the main opposition Quebec Liberal Party. It is now "concerned by" the "very severe prison sentences", instead of saying it "deplores" them.

The full motion as recorded in the minutes on the Assembly's official website is as follows:

The National Assembly deplores the rise in tensions and the increase in violence in Catalonia;
Is concerned by the prison terms recently imposed on legitimately and democratically elected Catalan politicians, very severe sentences in a democratic European state;
Reiterates its call for negotiation in order to find a political, democratic and peaceful solution to the current conflict;
Also calls for respect for fundamental liberties and rights of all citizens of Catalonia and Spain.
