Vans of the Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police have run over at least two protesters during tonight's protests in Tarragona, in the south of Catalonia. At least one of those injured has been taken to Joan XXIII Hospital. They are reported to be 17 years old and in a stable condition.

Videos posted online show the vans driving towards dumpsters that protesters had used as barriers to block the road. The drivers apparently couldn't see that there were still people very close behind the large rubbish containers as they approached at speed, whilst most of those present ran in different directions. When the drivers realise what has happened, they brake quickly, but they can't avoid the collisions.

As the vans push the dumpsters out of the way, at least one person appears to be hit by one of the bins and another directly by a van. Another video published on Twitter allegedly shows one of those hit unconscious on the floor, with friends trying to offer him assistance. Riot police officers start gathering around and engaging in aggressive verbal exchanges with the demonstrators, but do no appear to offer any treatment to the person on the ground.
