Fernando Andreu, a judge of the Audiencia Nacional (Spain's high court), has released Salah el-Karib, one of the four people arrested following the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils. He had been in police custody since Tuesday waiting for the searches at his call shop in Ripoll in north Catalonia to be finished.

According to legal sources, the judge in charge of the investigation gave el-Karib conditional release with cautionary measures in place. The Public Prosecutor's office doesn't plan to appeal this decision. After a first appearance in court, the judge had decided to extend his detention by 72 hours.
