Pro-independence party JxCat is considering a "possible scenario" of "reinstatingCarles Puigdemont as president of Catalonia if he's extradited to Spain on charges of misuse of public funds alone.

The party's spokesperson in the Catalan Parliament, Albert Batet, mentioned the possibility in Germany today. He's travelled to the country along with president Quim Torra, presidency minister Elsa Artadi and the Parliament's first deputy speaker, Josep Costa, for a meeting with Puigdemont.

In comments to Catalan public broadcaster TV3, Batet highlighted that the decision by the German courts to accept to extradite Puigdemont for misuse of funds, but not rebellion, "opens a possible scenario of his restoration". He said "the cases of rebellion, sedition and public disorder fall apart" and "show that all the political prisoners should be immediately released, because there's no case".

"A new scenario of restoration is opening up, which is an essential commitment for JxCat," Batet said.
