National Audience judge Carmen Lamela has agreed to summons, under investigation, former political director general, Pere Soler, and former secretary general of the Catalan Interior ministry, César Puig i Casañas for 9th March. They are to testify as part of the investigation into the events in Catalonia of the 20th and 21st September and 1st October last year.

The judge's order is in response to a request from the National Audience's public prosecutor alleging facts which they suggest might constitute two crimes of sedition as defined in article 544 of the Spanish Criminal Code. The prosecution note that this doesn't prejudice the eventual evaluation of the facts, in particular, that they might constitute another charge of criminal organisation as defined in article 570 bis. The judge however rejects the investigative steps proposed by the prosecution, as they have been already either agreed or even carried out.

Soler has already been to the National Audience and the Supreme Court a number of times during the testimony of Catalan ministers and members of the Parliament's Board. In fact, the day the Catalan government was imprisoned, he was in the court building.

In relation to the request to declare the case to be "complex", giving more time for the investigation, the judge of central court of instruction number 3 notifies the relevant parties so that, within two days, they can express their opinions.
