This afternoon (in Europe), the three major apps in the Mark Zuckerberg empire stopped working, and users were unable to upload or view posts. Users have recorded the problem on Twitter, as this social network is still working.

According to the website Downdetector, from around 5:30pm in Central European Summer Time (UTC+2), users began to report problems accessing these three applications. That's 4:30pm in the UK. In the US,  the problems started at 11:30am on the East Coast and 8:30am in the Pacific time zone.

Whatsapp has not allowed the sending or receiving of messages while Instagram and Facebook have shown no new updates from users.

WhatsApp

The information available up till now suggests that the fall of the social networks, which all belong to Facebook, has occurred on a global scale. According to Downdetector, 43% of WhatsApp users' problems stem from the inability to send messages, 29% have reported a problem with the server, and 28% general difficulties with the WhatsApp app.

According to the website, many users in Spain and Portugal are affected, as can be seen on this map.

According to the website Downdetector, everything fell over at around half past five in the afternoon in Europe.

Facebook

As for the largest social network, Facebook, services also seem to be disrupted around the world. 74% of incidents recorded in Downdetector say that the website does not work, while 15% talk of problems with the application and 11% with the connection to the server.

This is not the first time that Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp servers have stopped working suddenly. The last global failure was recorded on March 13th, when service on Facebook and Instagram stopped working for 22 hours. It was one of the longest outages in the history of the company run by Mark Zuckerberg.
