The music video for "The Reapers", the cover of Els Segadors, the Catalan national anthem, by US heavy metal group A Sound of Thunder has won the prize for Best Social Commentary video at the LA Music Video Awards, as first reported by enderrock.cat.
The video, directed by Hector Suñol, mixes images of a concert held in Terrassa, near Barcelona, on 2nd December last year with images from last year's independence referendum filmed in Borges Blanques in the west of Catalonia. The group, from Washington DC, brought forward the release of their cover last autumn following the police repression seen during the 1st October referendum.
