German multinational adesso AG has taken a bet on Catalonia. By founding adesso Spain, they are taking another step in their process of internationalisation. The German company, one of the most important IT contractors in central Europe, is aiming to maintain its growth and international expansion.

The firm's expansion plans for Spain contemplate a total investment of up to 15 million euros over the next three years, to include the creation of a specialised laboratory or technology centre. They also expect to create up to 300 jobs at their new offices in Sant Cugat del Vallès near Barcelona, among other locations.

According to a press release, Spain has been chosen over other countries because of the state of its economy and the opportunities it offers to expand around the Mediterranean and in Latin America.

They note the IMF says that the Spanish economy was the 14th largest in the world in 2016 with a large demand for communications and IT services. Similarly, the country's GDP grew 3.1% last year, placing it fifth amongst the 28 EU member states.
