Gerard Piqué has been reported by Barcelona's Urban Guard after a patrol stopped his vehicle in the Eixample neighbourhood shortly before 3pm today. The police officers discovered he was driving without any points on his license, according to Cadena SER.

Unlike the UK, where you start with zero points on your license and earn points for driving infractions, in Spain you start with a certain number of points and lose them with each infraction. When a driver has zero points left, they have the option to appeal. If that is not accepted, they lose their license for a period of time.

The officers reportedly asked for the Barça defender's licence as normal in such cases. They then confirmed that DGT, the Spanish traffic agency, had already taken all his points away.

Piqué, who retired from the Spanish national side earlier this year, next plays on Sunday in Barça's league game against Huesca at Camp Nou.
