The Catalan government and the City Council of Barcelona want the demonstration planned for this Saturday in the Catalan capital against terrorism to be headed by members of the emergency services and other civil organisations who helped the victims and those affected.

According to sources from both institutions, this is a desire expressed "since the first moment", before the CUP (Popular Unity Candidacy) complained about the possibility that King Felipe VI and other state authorities would lead the demonstration.

The aim of both the Catalan government and the City Council is that "the citizens" are those who lead the concentration because they consider that they are the true protagonists, and they both emphasise the need to maintain the unity.

For this reason, both defend the plan to give all the protagonism to the police, the medical services, taxi drivers, shopkeepers, and all those groups that in one way or another helped those affected, although the exact details of the demonstration have not yet been finalised.
