Catalan health minister, Alba Vergés, explained this Friday that Catalonia has more than 1,600 healthcare professionals who have joined the healthcare system because of the coronavirus.
Among them there are 237 professionals both from EU and non-EU countries, who have had their qualifications recognized; 351 medical students, or who have already done the internship; 222 nursing students; 486 from other healthcare professions, and retired professionals who have joined to do support tasks. More than 270 have joined the Spanish emergency number, 061.
"I believe the utmost effort is being made," said Vergés, who stressed that prior to this healthcare staff had already been deployed.
