Spain's Supreme Court is taking over the case against the pro-Catalan independence leaders from the National Audience. This opens the door to the option of release for the eight ministers and the two civil society leaders who are in prison awaiting trial. The Supreme Court has, so far, imposed less severe precautionary measures than the National Court. The judge could now review their cases. If freed, it would enable them to campaign for the 21st December Catalan election. Catalan News has been interviewing all the parties standing for election and, today, we reach PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party). Meanwhile, president Puigdemont has called on Spanish president Mariano Rajoy to start talks with him in Brussels, but his demands fell on deaf ears: a minister told him that he should now not appeal to Rajoy for dialogue, but to Rajoy's party’s candidate in Catalonia.
