The Catalan Parliament has this Thursday held a ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the return to pretrial detention of former speaker Carme Forcadell and deputies Dolors Bassa, Jordi Turull, Josep Rull and Raül Romeva. This Saturday will mark a year since they were sent back to prison. The last four had already spent a month in jail in late 2017; Forcadell, a night before she could post bail.

Numerous members of the Catalan government, including president Quim Torra, Forcadell's successor as speaker, Roger Torrent, and deputies from JxCat, ERC, CUP and En Comú gathered outside the Parliament building in Barcelona for a minute's silence. Also present were a large number of the chamber's civil servants. The ceremony ended with a call for the prisoners' release from conditional detention.
