Catalan organisations ANC (Catalan National Assembly), Òmnium Cultural and the CDRs (Committees for the Defence of the Republic) have set up two prison cells in front of the European Commission and the European Council in Brussels to denounce the existence of political prisoners in Catalonia. The action is part of the campaign Un poble empresonat (An imprisoned people). The cells were first seen in the centre of the Catalan town of Vic last November and have since visited a total of 17 municipalities.

"With this action we want international public opinion, specifically European [opinion], to be aware that the Spanish state is trying to convert a right, that of self-determination, into a crime", said the president of the ANC, Elisenda Paluzie.
