Catalan exports reached a record high in 2018 for the eighth year in a row. 71 billion euros' worth of goods were sold abroad, a 1% rise on 2017. Chemicals, pharmaceutics, machinery and electrical material were the top-performing sectors. Also today, Catalonia's opposition leader, Inés Arrimadas, might switch to Spanish politics. She is rumored to be considering standing for Barcelona in the April election in the Spanish Congress. Arrimadas will travel to Waterloo, Belgium, on Sunday to campaign against former Catalan president Puigdemont, but she has ruled out meeting him.
