The Catalan government today showed its support for the families of the jailed pro-independence leaders ahead of their transfer to Madrid on Friday for trial. President Torra said that in trying the referendum's organizers, Spain's Supreme Court will judge an entire people. Meanwhile, the European Commission sees no reasons to doubt that the trial will be fair. Vice-president Frans Timmermans, said there is no evidence of breaches in the separation of powers in Spain. The trial will start around February 5 but the court has not yet confirmed the exact date.
