A pro-independence trade union has called a general strike for February 5 to 7 to coincide with the beginning of the independence trial. The jailed leaders will be transferred from Catalan prisons to Madrid on January 29. Meanwhile, the Catalan vice-president and Spanish deputy PM met on Friday to move forward with regards to dialogue. Madrid aims to persuade pro-independence parties to support the budget, while Catalan officials want steps towards self-determination. Ciutadans criticized the meeting.
