Barcelona's airport recorded an all-time high in 2018: for the first time, it served over 50 million people. The upwards trend has been non-stop since 2009. The Girona and Reus airports were also on the rise, reaching 2 and 1 million passengers last year, respectively. Also today, jailed Catalan leaders Oriol Junqueras and Raül Romeva have requested acquittal in their upcoming trial. In their defense statement they ask to be freed immediately. Both politicians say they are democrats and pacifists.
