The Catalan government has taken the first step to recovering social laws suspended by the Spanish Constitutional Court. The former Spanish executive had challenged some 15 laws, and Catalonia now hopes to reinstate four of them. Meanwhile, the king of Spain has backed the Spanish judiciary in the run-up to the Catalan independence trial. Felipe asked that judicial decisions be respected and said there is separation of powers in Spain.
