Carles Puigdemont won't be able to be reinstated as Catalan president for now. The Spanish Constitutional Court has suspended the law enabling his swearing-in at a distance. Now, all eyes are on Puigdemont's party, Junts per Catalunya. They will probably have to find an alternative as new Catalan leader, someone who is neither in jail, nor abroad. This as the court in charge of the independence case faced harsh criticism from one of the incarcerated leaders. The Spanish judicial and political measures against Catalan politicians have been branded a violation of rights and today we found out that the European Commission is looking into these allegations.
